The women’s track and field team hosted the Bison Outdoor Classic at the Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium on April 12-13. The beautiful weather conditions and strong competition made for plenty of personal and season bests for the Bison.

The Orange and Blue hit the ground running in the beginning of the two-day meet, delivering several top-placing finishes. Saturday’s field events saw Dayna Simone ’16 finish sixth in the javelin (130-07), Sophia Nnadi ’16 finish third in the discus (139-01), and Alyssa Cardillo ’14 finish fourth in the long jump (18-03.25).

The distance runners also put on a show on Saturday when three ECAC qualifying times were hit. Deanna Godby ’16 ran the 5000 meter race in 17:15.82. Becky Snelson ’15 also qualified for ECACs with a time of 37:20.50 in the 10000 meter event. Teammates Hana Casalnova ’14 and Emily Waksmunski ’14 both competed in the 1500 meter race, with Casalnova finishing fifth in an ECAC qualifying time of 4:30.69, while Waksmunski finished seventh in 4:35.06.

Sunday’s events were highlighted by Jenn Silvestri ’16 who blazed her way to a second place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:01.75. The 4×100 meter relay team of Jennifer Zymet ’14, Kimberley Lapszynski ’17, Carly Reiner ’17, and Kim Nagotko ’15 raced their way to fourth (48.03). Zymet also placed second in the 400 meter race (56.44). On the field, Nnadi achieved her personal best toss of 166-03 in the hammer throw, placing her in second.

Tomorrow, the Bison will host their last home meet of the season, the Bucknell Team Challenge, at the Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
