Finishing the season off on a high note, the volleyball team ended the weekend undefeated. The Bison swept Loyola (Md.) on Nov. 14 and NJIT on Nov. 15 in a pair of home games. Their lone senior, Kadri Lutter ’15, was honored at the NJIT game for Senior Day.

Setting the tone for the game, the Orange and Blue finished the first set against Loyola 25-6. They hit an exceptional .423 in the first set and kept a .316 average throughout the entirety of the match.

“I would just say that the game against Loyola was one of the best games I think our team has played. We all stayed competitive, worked together, and played consistently—something we’ve been really working hard on throughout the season,” Erika Eastley ’17 said.

Eastley had seven kills for the Bison as well as three service aces. Hailey Stout ’18 contributed a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs, earning Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors. Karen Campbell ’16 hit nine kills and Meghan Wentzel ’16 posted 32 assists.

Lutter, who started an 8-0 run in the first set, rounded out the match with two digs and three service assists. Her sisters, Anna and Maria, took the opportunity to fly in from their home in Estonia to see their sister play for the last time.

The Bison ended the weekend on a high note against NJIT. After honoring Lutter, the team went on to win in another three-set sweep. This capped the Bison’s regular season record at 7-18.

Kristen Parks ’17 held up the defensive end with 20 digs while Eastley and Campbell were strong on the offensive end with 10 kills each. Jordan Walker ’17 also was a high contributor on the offensive end with seven kills, while Wentzel racked up 32 assists again for the Bison.

“Senior Night is always an exciting game and gives us even more of a reason to want to win. Our team has worked really hard to get to where we are, and it was the best way we could hope to end our season,” Parks said.
