Joan Jett to headline Chrysalis

Joan Jett & the Blackhearts will be performing at the 17th Annual Chrysalis Ball on April 24.

Joan Jett & the Blackhearts’ greatest hits include “I Love Rock n Roll,” “Bad Reputation,” “Crimson and Clover,” and “I Hate Myself For Loving You.” In honor of its achievements, the band will soon be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Typically, students and staff work together to select a Chrysalis performer, but the artist was entirely student-chosen this year.

“Last semester, another ACE Executive and I were sitting in the caf and I Love Rock and Rollcame on the radio. We both thought [Joan Jett] could be a great possibility and proposed the idea. We found out she would be available and interested in performing for Chrysalis, and we were thrilled!” Executive Programming Chair of Activities & Campus Events (ACE) Holly Grosholz ’17 said.

Chrysalis will be held from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. in Gerhard Fieldhouse. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to come out and enjoy this University tradition. In addition to Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, the Bucks Orchestra and a student DJ will also be performing at the event.

“I’ve known about it since before winter break, so it’s been exciting and difficult to keep it a surprise until now, but I’m really looking forward to seeing how campus reacts to the announcement!” Grosholz said.

Tickets go on sale March 16. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at a further discounted price through a hall deal. If half or 10 students from a hall buy tickets together, the tickets will be $5 off for first years and $3 off for upperclassmen. The discounts last until April 6th, when ticket prices will increase to $25.
