Placing 22nd out of 30, the men’s golf team finished with a team score of 311 on March 24 at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William and Mary. The match was held at the River Course at the Kingsmill Resort.

With his second straight three-over-par 73, Daniel Levin ’18 paced the Bison for the match. Levin ended with the team best of a 224 composite over 54 holes. John Edler ’17 was only a stroke short to Levin with a 225 composite, finishing with 77. D.J. Magee ’17 finished with a score of 80, Nick Geissler ’16 with an 81, and Peter Scialabba ’15 with an 82.

The Bison took a three-way tie for 22nd with Temple and Saint Joseph’s; all three schools shot a 914. Radford and Loyola tied at 859 for first place, but the Highlanders claimed the trophy in a three-hole play off.

“It was an awesome tournament to play in. The Bison improved from last year even though the tournament had a bigger playing field. The team is very excited for what can happen this weekend at Villanova,” said Edler.

Winning the individual title Matt Orshrine of Loyola shot a 4-under 66, which tied the tournament record

“We played well for the first two days before giving a little ground on the final day. In all, we improved our finish in this event over last year, and showed some improvement in the first two rounds. While being far from where we’d like to be at the end of the season, this tournament validated the hard work that we put in during the off-season and is a sign of good things to come this spring,” Magee said.
