The Bison Equestrian team capped off its season with a first place finish against Penn State, Dickinson, Susquehanna, and other local schools at the Briarwood Farm Show on March 21. The event took place at Black River Farm in New Jersey, and is held once a semester. The Bison’s also recorded a second place finish in Zone 3 Region 1 of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association.

“This past weekend everyone did incredibly well and we are so proud,” Co-captain Meg Rash ’17 said.

Rash, who is in her second year on the team, extended thanks to Farra Phillips-Hillyard and Chelsea Stanbro, who assist the team in their training.

“Joining the equestrian team was one of the best decisions I’ve made at Bucknell. I’ve met so many great girls from the team and we’ve had a very successful show season,” Rash said.

After qualifying for the first regional postseason competition, which occurred on March 25, the Orange and Blue will send three team members on to the next round. Morgan Manchester ’15, Carly Riemann ’15, and Morgan Gisholt Minard ’17 will advance to Zone finals on April 4. Should they qualify in Zones, the next round of the tournament would be Nationals, which occur at the end of April.

Anyone interested in joining the equestrian team, which trains at Fox View Farm, is encouraged to reach out to Rash at [email protected].
