Women’s rowing begins 2016 season at Princeton

Women’s rowing began their 2016 season with the Princeton Lightweights scrimmage on March 26. Instead of racing a 2,000-meter sprint like the team will in its upcoming races, the women competed in a high intensity workout against the Princeton boats. This gave the Orange and Blue an opportunity to compete against new opponents and prepare for the exciting season ahead.

“It was a great opportunity to start racing again and to prepare for our race against Penn, Princeton, and Dartmouth in a few weeks at the same course,” Caroline Bixby ’18 said.

The Bison will race against Temple and Drexel for the Skotedis Cup in Philadelphia on April 2, then will compete in the Occoquan Sprints Regatta in Fairfax, Va. on April 3.

“This coming weekend will be more exciting!” Maya Martignetti ’16 said.

The team will look to take some momentum from the scrimmage in Princeton as it faces challenging opponents in Philadelphia and Virginia.
