The softball team traveled to Washington for the Colonial Classic Tournament on March 5. Due to bad weather, the Bison only played two games instead of their scheduled four, unexpectedly shortening the tournament. The Bison first played Quinnipiac and won 15-11, followed by a loss to Monmouth 2-6, bringing their overall record to 9-3.

Meghan Kovac ’18 and Lauren Hadley ’19 both hit home runs for the Orange and Blue in their victory over Quinnipiac. Hadley’s home run gave the Bison a 2-0 lead during the first inning. Kovac’s grand slam in the fourth inning extended the lead to 12-5. The Orange and Blue scored multiple runs in four of the first five innings. They never trailed in the game.

Kovac finished the contest with five RBIs and Marisa Alemany ’20 had a single, a double, and scored three runs. Anna Gimmestad ’19 had a strong offensive performance with two singles and a double, while Chaylen Andolino ’17 added two singles. Two additional singles came from Paulina Gutkin ’18 and Celina Antonellis ’18 in the 15-run outburst for the Bison.

During the second game against Monmouth, errors plagued the Bison, who fell short by a final score of 2-6. Monmouth capitalized on two errors by the Orange and Blue, scoring five unearned runs in the game. The Bison scored both of their runs during the top of the fifth inning and totaled seven hits in the game. Gimmestad and Antonellis each singled, Alemany had three hits, and Hadley contributed a single and a double.

The Bison will play 10 games over spring break in Florida, facing Niagara, Saint Peter’s, South Carolina State, and Stetson. They open Patriot League play against Lafayette March 25–26 for their home opener.
