The Bison men’s golf team traveled to Woodmont, Md. this past weekend to compete at the Howard Bison Invitational hosted by Howard University. The field included 7 teams: William & Mary, Princeton, Towson, Howard, MD Eastern Shore, Virginia Union and North Carolina Central. It was worth the three hour drive, as the boys brought home both the team and individual title, both by one stroke.

Jackson Bussell ’23, posted a total final score of 8-over 224, edging the rest of the field by one stroke. One thing that separated Bussell from the rest of the field was not only his lead, but the fact that he broke his driver during the practice round on Friday. He battled through the weekend using a driver that was not his own, but what led to his victory was that he was “putting really well on tough and fast greens (stimping 13-14),” Bussell said. This is Bussell’s second individual title of his collegiate career.

Contributing to the Bison’s team title was Blake Wisdom ’23, who shot a final round of 76, leading him to a top-10 finish. Michael Rudnick ’24 and Jack Gardner ’23 both shot 80 in the final round. Jason Lohwater ’22 and Rudnick tied for 13th with Gardner right behind in a tie for 18th.

The Bison will be traveling to Bethlehem, Pa. this weekend for the Lehigh Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club.
