Men’s and women’s golf battle at respective competitions

Bison men’s golf finished best out of the Patriot League teams, finishing third at the Battle at Rum Pointe over the weekend. The total was tied with Fairfield and Rider and behind winners Rhode Island and Harvard in the 21-team field. The team stayed consistent over both days, shooting 296 on the first day, and rounding out the second day with 297.

In windy conditions in Maryland Jason Lohwater ’22 led the charge, finishing one shot off the lead, with a 3-under total of 141 for 36 holes. He was one of just five players out of 120 to break par over the weekend with three consecutive birdies to round out Saturday’s play, as well as an eagle and two birdies on Sunday to round out his third-place finish individually.

Blake Wisdom ’23 finished 17th with a 4-over total of 148, while Michael Rudnick ’25 and Jackson Bussel ’23 recorded scores of 75 and 76 for the Orange and Blue.

The Bison are hosted by Lafayette for the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational on April 10-11.

Bison Women’s Golf finished 12th out of 14 teams at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia over two days on March 28-29. 

The Bison ended the tournament, eventually won by Delaware, with a 54-hole total of 994 and a second-day performance seeing them move above Merrimack to 12th after being in 13th at the end of the first day.

Cristina Canales ’24 finished with a team-best 245 total, followed by Tara Thomas ’25 who posted a 77, leading the team on the second day. Sun Woo Jeon ’22 recorded two birdies on the second day and ended with an 80, and the Orange and Blue also recorded an 84 from Sahana Paravantavida ’23.

The team returns to action this Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3 at the Prospect Bay Intercollegiate in Grasonville, Maryland.
