The women’s golf team participated in the two-day, 36-hole Seton Hall Pirate Invitational on April 5 and 6 at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J. After a 355 stroke total on the first day, the Bison finished in 16th place out of 17 teams, but they jumped four spots to 12th place with a 325 the following day.
“The first day at Seton Hall was tough. There were 25 mph winds and the course was very wet, causing it to play around 6,900 yards (200 yards longer than the pros),” Meghan Garanich ’16 said. “The second day we were able to do much better! The weather was much better and the course wasn’t playing as long. Based on our second day scores alone, we beat Boston University, which is our biggest competitions in the Patriot League.”
Bridget Wilcox ’14 led the Bison with a 165 total. Her 78 on the second day was a team-best for the weekend. Lauren Bernard ’14 was a close second for the Orange and Blue with a 168 stroke total and an 80. Rounding out the rest of the Bison were Kasha Scott ’14, Emily Timmons ’15, and Garanich.
The Orange and Blue will finish the 2013-14 season on April 19-20 at the Saucon Valley Country Club for the Patriot League Championship.
