On March 26, the Bison hosted Patriot League opponent Army West Point. The Orange and Blue defeated the Black Knights 19-9, posting the most goals in one game since 2008. For the season, the Bison have scored 141 goals in 10 games, placing fourth in the country in average goals per game. They lead the nation in assists, averaging 9.6 per game.

The Bison set the tone of the game very early as Emily Becker ’16 found the back of the net only 2:39 minutes into the game. With 18:27 left on the clock in the first half, the score was 9-0. While the score showed Bison domination, Army persisted and narrowed the gap to 11-5 early in the second half. Gretchen Richter ’18 scored three straight goals to make the score 14-5 with 20:39 remaining in the game. Audrey Walsh ’19, Mary Margaret Kenney ’18,  Maddy Molinari ’17, and Becker each scored a goal to put the game away.

After this victory, Richter moves up to fourth place on the career top draw controls list with 124. In the assist category, Eve Lukowski ’18 and Christina Manis ’17 jumped up to eighth and ninth for single-season assists with 21 and 20, respectively.

“We were ranked below Army, a team who had never played a Patriot League game before. We had been waiting for this game all season to prove people wrong. Everyone just went out there and played for each other. Everything clicked and it felt good to show people how much our hard work [pays] off,” Lucia Smircich ’17 said.

The Bison will host Holy Cross on April 2 at 1 p.m.
