The Bison Women’s Tennis team’s season came to a close at the Patriot League Quarterfinals, in which they fell in a close match to fourth-seeded Lehigh 4-3.
The Orange and Blue started the match with a 6-2 doubles win for Caroline Marcus ʼ25 and Riley Jennings ʼ28. Lehigh answered shortly after, tying doubles 1-1. Cameron King ʼ28 and Jaycie Mair ʼ27 became the winning match for the doubles point. King and Mair defeated their opponents 7-5 to give the Bison a 1-0 lead entering singles play.
Singles play began with Lehigh winning two matches, bringing their lead to 2-1. Jennings responded with a 6-4, 6-3 success to tie the match 2-2. The Mountain Hawks added another point to their total, but Mair tied the quarterfinal match with a three-set 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory.
Whitney King ʼ25 was the only Bison still competing. W. King took the first set 6-1, but the Mountain Hawk competitor bounced back with a 6-4 win, leaving it all to the last set. Lehigh was able to take the victory after the final 7-5 set, bringing the Bison’s season to a close.
The Bison are grateful for the tennis careers of seniors Marcus, W. King and Anna Lajos and look forward to next season.
