Women’s Tennis was on the road this weekend, traveling first to Boston, Ma. to take on Boston University, followed by a trip to North Andover, Massachusetts, to face Merrimack.
The Orange and Blue had their first Patriot League loss against their opponent in Boston, but came back for a sweep of their own against Merrimack. At the end of the weekend, the Bison find themselves at 5-4 for the season with a score of 0-1 in the league.
Bucknell began in Boston against Boston University on Friday, Sep. 20. The Terriers gave up not a single doubles match to quickly secure a 1-0 lead going into the singles matches. These matches followed suit with Boston sweeping six wins to secure a 7-0 victory.
The only two members of the Orange and Blue to even reach a tiebreaker were Jaycie Mair ’27, who had a 7-6(5) first set and Tori Allen ’27, who had a 7-6(4) second set in their matches.
From there, the Bison traveled to North Andover to face Merrimack. Coming off their tough loss, the Orange and Blue fought to a sweep of their own on Saturday, Feb. 21.
The Bison swept both the doubles and singles matches, giving them a 7-0 victory with Mirra Manolov ’26 collecting a 6-3,6-3 win on court No. 2 to close out the day. In these matches, as well, Kate Purpura ’29 and Summer Even-Esh ’29 secured their first collegiate points and wins in this matchup.
The Orange and Blue hope to add their first win within the league this season as they face Army at home on Friday, Feb. 27.
