Men’s and Women’s Track and Field competed at the Bison Outdoor Classic over the weekend, setting three school records in the process.
The meet was once again headlined by the performance of Evelyn Bliss ’27, who not only set the program record in the javelin, but also took down the meet and facility records with her throw of 201-03 feet. At Raleigh Relays in late March, Bliss put herself atop Division 1 in the event, and this throw increased her lead to over seven feet over second place.
Alex Lea ’28 also rewrote the record books in the 200 meters, finishing in 23.53 seconds to improve on her 23.58-second school record set last year. Finally, Grace Vives ’26 picked up the Bison’s third school-record-setting performance in the mile, running 4:55.25, over three seconds faster than the previous mark, set in 2021.
Even more Bison found themselves in the Orange and Blue annals after the weekend. Elizabeth Bryant ’26 cleared 12-07.5 feet in the pole vault to pick up the win and slot herself into second all-time in program history. Katrina Torelli ’27 finished third in the invitational section of the 1500 meters, running 4:24.81, slotting herself into second all-time in Bison history.
Shaelan McNally ’28 was not far behind her, finishing in seventh and fourth all-time with a time of 4:25.83. Caryn Rippey ’26 continued the success in the distance events, finishing third in the 10,000 meters in 34:42.16, the third fastest mark in program history.
The trio of Kailey Granger ’27, Kerry O’Day ’28 and Meghan Rentner ’26 all slotted themselves into the record books in the 5000 meters, running 16:40.86, 16:43.08, and 16:45.24, respectively, to put themselves at fifth, sixth and seventh all-time.
For the men, Saturday was marked by Henry Didden’s ’26 first-place finish in the 10,000 meters. Didden ran 29:35.45 for the win, just one second off his 2025 performance, the seventh-fastest performance in Bison history and the fastest since 1987. Alex Polenik ’29 finished second in the discus, throwing 167-11 feet, tied for the eighth-farthest mark in school history.
Keenan LaMontagne ’26 was not far behind him, finishing in third with a 167-01-foot toss. Wade Shomper ’26 finished fourth in the shot put. His throw of 58-11.25 feet was less than a foot off his school record.
Braiden Pulver ’28 moved into second all-time for the shot put with his seventh-place finish. On Sunday, Jeffrey Cianfrocca ’26 placed first in the high jump, clearing 6-05 feet for the win.
CJ Simbiri ’28 picked up the second win for the jumps, claiming first in the triple jump 47-07.25 feet. Luke Petryna ’28 moved up to sixth in school history in the 200-meter dash, following his 21.39-second performance. On Monday, Will Feddeler ’28 closed the meet with his win in the decathlon, totaling 6319 points, good for fourth in the Orange and Blue annals.
Men’s and Women’s Track and Field continue their season at the IC4A-ECAC Outdoor Championships on April 18 and 19, hosted by Rutgers.
