The Bison split a doubleheader against Army to keep their postseason hopes alive. This Bison fell 10-3 in game one but battled back with a 6-5 nine-inning victory. The Orange and Blue celebrated seniors Mea Consentino ’26, Nicole Lioumis ’26, Marissa Rapino ’26, Angelina Seropian ’26 and Haley Speicher ’26.
In game one, the Bison fell behind early and couldn’t catch up. Consentino started in the circle, but the Black Knights scored seven runs in the first two innings.
The Bison scored two runs in the third inning. Reagan Powell ’28 singled, and Sarah Zimmerman ’27 reached base on an error. Speicher singled, loading the bases. Molly Lawson ’27 hit a grounder that was fielded poorly, allowing two runs to score.
In the fifth inning, Speicher singled, Brooke Popella ’27 walked and Lawson singled to load the bases. Meadow Gambacurta ’29 hit a fielder’s choice, which scored Speicher, cutting the deficit to 7-3. However, Army added three insurance runs and took game one 10-3.
In game two, the Bison battled and took a thrilling 6-5 victory in nine innings, putting the Orange and Blue in fourth place in the Patriot League standings.
Avery Powers ’29 started in the circle for the Bison. The Black Knights took an early 3-0 lead. Payton Hale ’28 entered the circle and tossed four scoreless innings as the offense began their comeback.
In the second inning, Gambacurta tripled over the right fielder’s head. Shea Malone ’27 ripped a ball past the third baseman, and the Bison scored their first run of the contest.
In the fourth, Popella singled, and Gambacurta reached base off an error. A passed ball allowed both runners to advance. Malone singled up the middle to score Popella, and Lawson added another run with an RBI grounder.
In the fifth inning, the Bison took the lead. Zimmerman singled to third base. Speicher laid down a bunt and reached base on a dropped catch. Barbara Jo Coppola ’29 laid a sacrifice bunt to advance both runners. Gambacurta smashed a two-run single to put the Bison in the lead 5-4.
The Black Knights tied the game in the seventh with a homer, and the game went into extra innings.
In the ninth inning, Zimmerman led off with a line drive. Speicher singled to second base, beating the throw. Coppola scorched a ball over the left fielder’s head to score Speicher, and the Bison celebrated a 6-5 victory.
The Bison finished up their home schedule, falling 8-2 to Army in the final game of the series.
The Orange and Blue travel to Colgate for their regular-season finale in hopes of securing their fourth consecutive Patriot League Tournament bid.
