On Friday, April 10 the Bison took on Lafayette at the Christy Matthewson-Memorial Stadium. Captain and senior Catherine Dineen ’26 scored her career-first goal from her defensive position, along with causing four turnovers. The Orange and Blue prevailed with a 15-8 win, bringing them to 8-4 overall and 4-2 in the Patriot League.
The game opened with a strong start from the Bison. The first point on the board came from Katie Browne ’26 in the first five minutes. Just over a minute later the Leopards matched the Orange and Blue, adding a point of their own to the board. The Bison brought back their lead with points from Caleigh Cummiskey ’29 and Megan Krestinski ’26. The first quarter closed with a 3-1 lead for the Orange and Blue.
The second quarter opened once again with a goal from Browne, this time from a converted free-position shot. Attempting to keep up, the Leopards scored, cutting the Bison lead to two ahead. The defense stepped up with almost 6 minutes of scoreless play until Browne secured a hat trick off an assist from Krestinski. The pair followed up with one more point each to bring the game to 7-3 to end the quarter.
After the half-time intermission, Regan Sansiviero ’26 added a tally to the board with one from the Leopards soon after. Pushing ahead, the Bison went on a three-goal rush from Katie Powers ’29, Dineen, her career first and Estella Geller ’28. With two more goals added to the board, the quarter closed at 13-5.
The fourth opened for the first time this match with a point from Lafayette. Cumminskey and Sansiviero answered to add the last two points to the scoreboard for the Bison. The Leopards ended with two more unanswered goals but couldn’t manage to fight back from their deficit. The buzzers sounded with a 15-8 victory for the Orange and Blue.
The Bison performed well on ground balls, recording 31 to only 14 for the Leopards. Additionally caused turnovers were a point of strength for the Orange and Blue going 19-12.
Bella Crowley ’27 started in the net and recorded a save rate of .500 with seven saves and seven goals. Julia Dembowitz ’26 stepped into the crease during the fourth quarter, collecting one save and one goal for a 0.500 save percentage of her own.
The Bison play Boston next tomorrow at home.
