U.S. National Champion Evie Bliss ’27 took home three awards after her record-breaking performance in the javelin throw at the prestigious Penn Relays. Bliss won the Penn Relays Women’s College Individual of the Meet, Patriot League Outdoor Women’s Field Athlete of the Week and the Bison of the Week honors. The junior shattered the facility and meet records at the historic event.
Bliss claimed another event victory and her third facility and meet record of the 2026 season, battling against less-than-ideal weather conditions. On her first throw, the junior threw 57.31m (188-0), crushing the previous Penn Relays meet record of 56.46m (185-2) set the year prior.
On her last throw of the day, the national champion threw the javelin 59.35m (194-8), surpassing the 29-year standing Penn Relays facility record held previously by three-time national champion Lynda Lipson-Bluterich. Bliss won the customary Penn Relays gold watch as well as College Women’s Field Performance of the Day from the throw.
Bliss remains ranked first in the NCAA and third in the world with her 61.34m (201-3) throw at the Bison Outdoor Classic. The junior has set facility and meet records at the Colonial Relays, the Bison Outdoor Classic and the Penn Relays.
The Bison travel to Maryland’s Kehoe Twilight today, for their last tuneup before the Patriot League Outdoor Championships taking place on May 15-16.
