Track and Field thrower Wade Shomper ’26 took home his first Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week and his third Bison of the Week title of the 2025-26 academic year after resetting his school record in the outdoor shot put at the prestigious Raleigh Relays.
Shomper placed second and was the highest-finishing collegiate. He reset his school record with a distance of 18.23m (59-9.75) on his third attempt, which broke his old throw of 57-11.
All of his throws netted 16 meters or higher, and the senior did not commit any fouls. The throw placed him first in the Patriot League, 12th in the East, and 20th nationally. He secured his first NCAA qualifying bid.
The Bison compete at the annual Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary on Friday, April 3.
