Women’s Lacrosse faced Youngstown State over the weekend in Youngstown, Ohio, winning 20-6.
The Orange and Blue are coming off a 6-10 overall record and 2-7 Patriot League record in 2025, returning 26 of their players, including Megan Krestinski ’26 and Jessica Leon ’26, who achieved All-Patriot League Second Team. On the opposing side, the Penguins also begin their 2026 season with 13 newcomers combining with 19 returners from last season.
Despite losing the opening draw, the Orange and Blue recovered quickly, setting up Krestinski for a decisive one-touch tap-in goal to claim the Bison’s first score of the 2026 season. Less than a minute later, the Penguins responded to tie the game at 1-1.
The game went scoreless for a while before Alexandra Macutek ’28 added another, followed by Caleigh Cummiskey ’29, who had her first collegiate goal to put the Bison up 3-1 by the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Caroline Sheridan ’26 and Cummiskey scored back-to-back goals to make the score 5-1. With just three minutes left in the first half, the Penguins scored another goal.
The Orange and Blue fought back with Cummiskey and Katie Browne ’26 adding two more tallies to give the Bison a 7-2 lead at the half. In the third quarter, the Penguins opened the scoring but couldn’t stop the attacks of Krestinski and Cummiskey, who gave the Bison a 2-0 scoring streak. The streak was broken after Youngstown State added a single goal but revived with a Bison 3-0 run after Lucy Connors ’29 found the back of the net in her first collegiate goal, ending the quarter up 12-4.
The fourth quarter opened with both teams adding two goals before the Orange and Blue solidified the victory with a 6-0 scoring run to end the game 20-6. This was the Bison’s first season-opener road win since 2018 and first season-opener win since 2020.
Cummiskey set the freshman scoring record at Bucknell in her collegiate debut with an impressive six-goal performance.
The Bison compete next against UMBC at home on Feb. 13.
