The Orange and Blue continued their season by traveling over to Lehigh on Saturday, March 28 to challenge their Patriot League foe. Despite some nail-biting competition, the Bison ultimately fell 2-5 to the Mountain Hawks, bringing their overall record to 7-10 and their Patriot League record to 0-5.
Saturday started strong for the Bison as the team came together to claim the first match point.
Duo Abby Platt ’26 and Riley Jennings ’28 defeated their Mountain Hawk opponents 6-0; Natalie Devraj ’28 and Cameron King ’28 followed suit with a closer 6-3 doubles win.
While Jaycie Mair ’27 and Summer Even-Esh ’29 fell 3-6 against their opponents, the Bison still earned the doubles point to start ahead of Lehigh.
Platt carried her success into singles play as her victory earned the Bison their second point of the day.
She dominated her opponent 6-1, 7-6; she also earned her Patriot League Tennis Player of the Week honors, her second of the season. Despite Platt’s success, the team struggled in the remaining singles matches. Jennings fought hard in her match, but fell 3-6, 1-6. Tori Allen ’27 and Mirra Manolov ’26 followed suit with 5-7, 6-7, and 4-6, 3-6 losses, respectively.
Mair also took a two-set loss, finishing her match 4-6, 6-7. Devraj was the closest to a second singles win by taking her Mountain Hawk opponent to three sets. She ultimately fell in the third, scoring 1-6, 6-3, 1-6.
The Bison will be back in action this Saturday, April 4 against Colgate.
