Samuel Whittaker ’23 (89th, 24:42.8) was the Bison’s top finisher at the highly-regarded and competitive Paul Short Run on Friday morning.  Whittaker, who earned All-Patriot League recognition for the first time in the spring, was the Bison’s only finisher in the top 100 in the Gold race’s field of 357 competitors.

The Bison finished 22nd as a team (653) in the field of 40. Michael Donnelly ’24 (140th, 25:05.1) was next for the Bison, followed by Ryan Miele ’22 (147th, 25:07.3).  Owen Chase ’22 (167th, 25:17.1) and Harry Marson ’25 (170th, 25:18.2) rounded out the Bison’s scoring runners on the day.

Several Bison also competed in the open race earlier on Friday morning. Bobby Lynam ’25 was the Bison’s top finisher in the field of 380.

On the women’s side, Ashlyn Ramos ’22 led the Bison at the Paul Short Run, finishing 20th in a field of 341 competitors in the highly-regarded competition. Ramos, who is the defending Patriot League Champion, finished in a time of 20:35.4, and was the third-fastest Patriot League competitor in the Gold race. The Bison finished 25th overall as a team (657) in the field of 38.

“Paul Short was our first big cross country meet in a very long time and we struggled a little bit as a team, but it’s still very early in the season. The experience was invaluable and it was still a step in the right direction fitness-wise for the team as a whole” Ramos said.

The Bison will head to Florida State on Oct. 16 for the FSU Invite/Pre-Nationals. Several Bison will also head to the Leopard invitational the same weekend.
