Sidney Shaffer ’27 has proven to be a key component to the Bison Volleyball team, assisting them in eight straight wins. The team is off to a winning start to their 2024 season, adding a 3-0 sweep this past weekend at the Ellicott Hotels Western New York Invitational. In addition to entering this season as a member of the Preseason All-League Team, Shaffer has been named this week’s Bison of the Week.
Shaffer especially shined in the matches against Canisius and Youngstown State. The sophomore finished with 36 kills and a total of 47 points. Against Canisius, she hit 16 of 29, and against Youngstown she managed 13 of 18, as well as adding 11 blocks and 17 digs.
Last year, Shaffer was named Patriot League Rookie of the Year. She holds a third place hitting percentage of .357, fourth in blocks (37) and sixth in points (119). As a Bison, she leads in hitting percentage and points and has the second most kills (87).
Make sure to catch Shaffer on the court Sept. 20 and 21 as she and the rest of the Bison Volleyball team prepare to host Holy Cross and Army.
