Big Patriot League weekend for men’s and women’s tennis

MEN’S
The men’s tennis team blanked Lafayette this past weekend 7-0, improving to 4-2 in Patriot League play.
Harrison Gold ’24 and Nick Mueller ’23 were really strong for the Bison, winning all three of their doubles matches. Overall, the Bison didn’t lose more than three games in any of their sets.
Michael Owen ’23, Tim Zelikovsky ’24, Nicolas Grunig ’25 and Charlie Nordahl ’23 all won both their singles and doubles matches for the Orange and Blue. Zelikovsky’s No. 4 singles win marks his 13th in a row, making him 14-4 in dual matches.
The Bison will close out their regular-season play at home against Lehigh on Saturday, April 23.

WOMEN’S
Senior captain Daniela Bellini ’22 was recognized for her admirable career as a Bison before the women’s tennis matchup on Saturday, April 16. Bellini is a two-time All-Patriot League selection, and holds a 49-25 singles record (17th in University history).
Bellini, Whitney King ’25, Tyne Miller ’24 and Laurel Utterback ’24 fought hard until the end of their matches against Army West Point on Saturday, but were unable to pull away with victories on the day.

On Sunday the Orange and Blue faced Towson, but were unable to improve on their scores from Saturday. Bellini and King were only narrowly defeated, and the two finished with a 21-5 record on the season.

“My team really went all out for senior day, and it made for an overall amazing weekend even though we lost both our matches. It’s been such an amazing four years with the Bucknell tennis team, and I couldn’t imagine ending my career here any other way” said Bellini.
The Orange and Blue are back in action in the Patriot League Championships in Bethlehem, Pa. The PL Championships will be held from April 22-24, and the Bison start off tournament play against the Loyola Greyhounds.
