Strong weekend for women’s rowing

The Bison women’s rowing squad had a dual meet this weekend against Eastern Michigan and UConn on the Susquehanna River. The Bison won six out of their eight races, the Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Four both going 2-0 on the day. The Varsity Eight and Third Varsity Eight each went 1-1 in their races.
On Saturday, the Bison had the fastest four, finishing in 7:47 in both races and being only one of four crews to finish under eight minutes on the day. The Orange and Blue 3V8+ finished in 7:28.87, besting Eastern Michigan by 13 seconds. The Second Varsity Eight completed their first race in 6:54.08 to also beat Eastern Michigan. The 2V8+ raced in 6:56.87 to beat UConn by a total of 22 seconds.

“It was nice to compete against Eastern Michigan, UConn and Villanova this past weekend,” Davis said, “since we don’t usually see them as much during our regular season. It was great to have a home race, and see everyone pushing themselves and working as a team.”
The Bison are set to race again in Raleigh, N.C. for the Lake Wheeler Invitational this coming Friday and Saturday.
