The Bison wrestling team returned to Davis Gym this past weekend in a match against EIWA foe, Drexel University. Met by the Dragon’s nationally-ranked wrestlers, the Bison started off very strong.

It was not until halfway through the match that Drexel took the lead and maintained it.

Dorian Crosby ’24 opened up the match for the Bison and recorded a 14-3 major decision over his opponent, which ended up being the biggest win of the day for the Orange and Blue. The Dragons responded in the next round, giving them a slight 6-4 only until the Bison’s top-ranked wrestlers were up. Both Kurt Phipps ’24 and Darren Miller ’23 pulled off back-to-back wins, giving the Bison a 10-6 lead.

The Dragon’s top-ranked wrestlers had yet to compete, however, and were not ready to back down. Drexel won five straight rounds, giving them a 23-10 advantage with only one round remaining. Nolan Springer ’25 closed out the match with a final Bison victory, ending the scoring 23-13 in favor of Drexel.

“[We are] getting back into the practice room and addressing the positions we have viewed that need to be worked on individually,” Crosby said.

The Bison will return to Davis Gym this coming weekend, where they will face LIU on, Jan. 28. The match is set for 11 a.m. Later that same day, the Orange and Blue will travel to Rider in a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m.
