Ethan Wolford-Tuffy ’24 won his first career Bison of the Week award this week. The senior sprinter on Men’s Track and Field had an outstanding performance this weekend, competing at home in the Bison Open.
Wolford-Tuffy capped off his weekend with a Gerhard Fieldhouse record in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 47.88. This got him the win in the event and also qualified him for the IC4A Championships in the race.
This impressive time is also the fourth-best 400-meter dash in Bison history and puts Wolford-Tuffy at #75 in Division I for the event.
“I remember talking to my teammate Brandon Foust, who ran at Penn State this weekend, and saying that I felt like I could run a nice time. I found out after my race that he actually had more confidence in me than I did, and predicted what I would run very closely. I’m really thankful for the support from my teammates, I think they play a big part in keeping me in the right headspace for competing, and I hope my support does the same for them,” Wolford-Tuffy said.
The Bison speedster also competed in the 200-meter dash on Friday night, placing second with a time of 21.96. This gave the senior IC4A qualification for this event as well.
This is the fourth straight week a Track & Field athlete has grabbed Bison of the Week honors.
