Men’s Lacrosse sophomore Will Hopkins was named Bison of the Week this past Monday. His career performance against Dartmouth helped lead the team to their first win of the season, scoring five goals for the 15-13 win on the home field.
Hopkins scored the first two goals of the game, then notching a hat trick not even four minutes into the game. His first three goals gained a crucial 5-0 lead for the Orange and Blue by the 10:43 mark of the first quarter.
Hopkins scored a fourth goal near the end of the first quarter, cutting off the 3-0 Dartmouth streak. In a man-up opportunity in the third quarter, he made another critical goal and pulled the Bison further ahead at 10-7. Hopkins joined Connor Davis ’25 in tallying five goals in a game this season.
The Second Team All-Patriot League honoree, in his first year, posted hat tricks on three occasions last season. Despite a slow start in Bucknell’s first two games, Hopkins later rose to second on the roster with his five-goal feat against the Big Green. Impressively, these five goals came out of just six shot attempts.
In addition to Hopkins’ three-time award as Patriot League Rookie of the Week last season, he was also named honorable mention for the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week this past Monday.
Hopkins now harbors 34 career points on 22 goals and 12 assists.
Bucknell travels to Wilton, Conn. on Saturday, matched against Harvard (1-0) in a neutral-site game at Wilson High School.
