Following the Bison’s first victory of the season against VMI, Ralph Rucker ’25 was awarded Athlete of the Week. This marks Rucker’s second time earning the award.
Last week, Rucker assisted the Bison football team in a 35-28 win against VMI on the road. Rucker completed 28 of 37 passes, totaling 340 yards, ran for 21 yards and contributed to three touchdowns.
Rucker broke out early in the second half following a slow first half. In the third quarter, Rucker was 14 for 15 and threw two touchdown passes, each on the first offensive drive.
Rucker threw seven completions over 15 yards and one over 40 yards that found the hands of Josh Gary ’26 in the end zone as well as a 35-yard touchdown pass to TJ Cadden ’27.
Rucker holds a place in Bucknell history for three 300-yard passing games. He also holds the record for single-game passing yards with 387 yards seen against Colgate last fall. In addition to Bison of the Week, Rucker was named an honorable mention for Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week.
