Following last year’s monumental success online, ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” has its work cut out for itself for the upcoming 33rd season. For readers unfamiliar with the show, “Dancing with the Stars” is an 11-week competition in which celebrities are assigned to a “Pro” dancer, and each couple performs ballroom dances in front of a panel of judges. Every week, they learn new choreography of 1-2 different dance styles and must perfect their routines before they perform live. Ultimately, each couple hopes to make it to the final round, where they compete for the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.
With the new cast recently revealed, fans are anticipating yet another entertaining season filled with drama and passion. These stars are unlike any other and are sure to make for another successful year. Here are my opinions and predictions for each couple before the season begins.
Jenn Tran and Sasha Farber: Continuing the tradition of “Bachelorette” alumni competing, Jen will be performing just weeks after the devastating ending to her “Bachelorette” season. I am excited to see Jenn thrive on the dance floor with one of the most lovable Pros on the show.
Reginald VelJohnson and Emma Slater: A fun pairing that has already earned some supporters from Emma’s posts! Reginald will certainly steal the heart of audiences, and I am expecting “Team Dancing Matters” to really bring it for week one!
Eric Roberts and Britt Stewart: The Oscar-nominated actor will take to the dance floor with one of my personal favorite Pros to hopefully make it far in the competition. While Eric has expressed his nervousness about being on the show, I would not count him out just yet; “Team Brightside” is ready to “rock the dance floor!”
Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten: “Team CUT A RUG-by” is definitely one of my favorite pairings so far after seeing their fun dynamic on social media. I think Ilona Maher’s remarkable athleticism provides them with an upper hand. I am expecting to see these two in the Finale.
Phaedra Parks and Val Chmerkovskiy: The Real Housewives of Atlanta star will be joining last season’s mirrorball trophy champion to hopefully make it far! “Team Peaches & Cream” will surely be fun to watch, and I am excited to see how Val handles the season after his major win.
Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold: This pair is my predicted fan-favorite considering the amount of support they already have. Stephen obviously is fairly well known for his incredible performance at this year’s Olympics. If he can bring some rhythm and dance skills to the floor, along with his strength, we should see some fun performances from “Team Arnold Pommel.”
Anna Delvey and Ezra Sosa: Somewhat of a controversial pairing, Anna Delvey is a well-known con artist who spent four years in jail for her crimes. Many disapprove of her casting, arguing that it glamorizes her actions, while others find it somewhat comical considering she mainly conned incredibly wealthy people. Regardless of her involvement, I am certainly excited for Ezra’s first season as a Pro and am eager to see how “Team Not Guilty” performs!
Brooks Nader and Gleb Savchenko: This pair has already sparked rumors of a romance, so they are certainly going to bring some chemistry to their dances this season. I am looking forward to seeing how the “Sports Illustrated” alumni will take on ballroom dancing!
Danny Amendola and Witney Carson: Veteran Pro Witney will finally be returning to “Dancing with the Stars” this season, and her creative choreography has definitely been missed. I am excited to see if Danny is able to grapple with transitioning from a football field to a ballroom!
Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson: Yet another iconic member of the Bachelor franchise will be joining DWTS this season! Joey’s season of “The Bachelor” was well received online, and Jenna’s experience on the show will definitely put the pair at an advantage this season. I am anticipating seeing “TeamtWINning” at the Finale this season!
Dwight Howard and Daniella Karagach: While Daniella is likely used to working with quite tall partners, having won with Iman Shumpert (6’5) just two seasons ago, Dwight Howard, standing at 6’10, will certainly be a challenge for ballroom dance. I am sure that Daniella will make it work, as she usually does, and the pair will have a successful season!
Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong: “Team Bran & Chan” are definitely one of my top picks for the Finale as of now! It is clear through their social media posts that they have a great dynamic so far, and I am confident that with her musicality and Brandon’s creativity, they will make it far!
Tori Spelling and Pasha Pashkov: The Beverly Hills 90210 star will be taking on DWTS with Pasha and I am excited to see how they advance! Pasha has had a lot of success in his first seasons, and I am very hopeful for this pair!
