Nothing says Christmas like a catchy three-minute tune! In this article, I’m ranking my top 10 Christmas songs.
10. At spot 10, I have “Snowman” by Sia. Although I don’t typically love Sia’s music, I have a soft spot for this holiday song. I first heard it in 2020 and fell in love with the lyrics and slower tempo. The piano part is also beautiful and ties the song together.
9. Next is “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” by the one and only Mariah Carey. Mariah is the queen of Christmas, so of course she had to make my top 10. Slightly overplayed, this song is a classic that always gets me in the holiday spirit.
8. Spot eight goes to “Underneath the Tree” by Kelly Clarkson. Alongside Clarkson’s iconic hits, her Christmas songs are also top-tier. “Underneath the Tree” is guaranteed to make even the Grinch dance!
7. “Jingle Bell Rock” by Bobby Helms is so fun!! It has a catchy chorus that even your grandma and grandpa are guaranteed to know. Not to mention it’s sung by the Plastics in “Mean Girls,” a great movie option for the Christmas season.
6. At spot six is “Santa Tell Me” by the flawless Ariana Grande. Is there anything Grande can’t do?? Every morning when I wake up, I’m grateful to be alive at the same time as Miss Ari.
5. Next on my list is “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” by Darlene Love, another iconic song that is bound to make anyone smile. Her 1963 version will always be my favorite.
4. “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” sung by Michael Bublé, had to make the list. Bublé’s cover is my favorite, but I do enjoy the original version of the song as well. His voice fits the song perfectly, adding a jazz style to it.
3. Listening to “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee is like sitting by a warm fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa. The instrumental background makes the song, along with Lee’s stunning vocals.
2. “Happy Xmas (War is Over)” by John Lennon and Yoko Ono is not only a great song, but I love its history and message. Christmas should be a time of unity and hope, something this song clearly exudes.
1. My top spot goes to “Last Christmas” by Wham! Best song ever. I play this song any time of the year and you should too. So catchy, so fun, everything holidays should be.
Honorable Mention: I used to have an addiction to “Mary, Did You Know? (feat. The String Mob),” Pentatonix version. I listened to this song upwards of 20 times a day. Nothing can ever top Pentatonix Christmas music, they’re just perfect.
Thank you for reading my list, get listening!!
