Amami
About Amami
Amami opened over 10 years ago in Downtown Lewisburg with the mission to bring a high-quality Italian espresso bar and American coffee shop hybrid option to town. Since its opening, Amami has been in multiple locations and is now located on Sixth Street across from Hufnagle Park. Being very close to campus, Amami is a Bucknell staple and popular spot for students, professors and locals alike. When Grace first toured Bucknell as a prospective student, Amami was the place recommended to her and her mom for lunch! Amami is known for its wide variety of drinks and extensive food menu; its wraps, paninis and toasts are legendary. Make sure you get there early in the day because their hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays.
What We Got
Grace got a hot caramel latte (in a mug!), and Grace got a hot dirty chai latte (also in a mug!). The two drinks were delicious and came with beautiful latte art. We’ve often come across drinks that are too sweet while exploring local cafes, but that was not the case at Amami. The caramel latte was a nice balance between espresso, milk and caramel, while the dirty chai had a nice aroma of cinnamon and spice that blended well with the espresso. We also paired our coffee with some food items, with Grace getting a breakfast wrap and Grace ordering a slice of crumb cake. In our four years here, we both have tried various food items from this establishment, including their paninis, wraps and French toast, all of which were super yummy as well.
Our Rating: We give this week a 4.7/5. We both thoroughly enjoyed our drinks, and Amami’s proximity to campus just can’t be beat!
Flavor: The coffee was some of the best—not too bitter, sweet or milky. The balance of the flavors was accurate to the description of the drinks, which is always a nice experience.
Fun: Amami is a great place for all, whether you’re looking for a brunch spot with a friend, a quick smoothie run or a change in scenery to do work. The staff are friendly, and the space offers an array of seating options to choose from. When the weather gets nicer outside, some people choose to sit outside, as there are several designated areas to do so with a nice view of the park.
Fame: Being just a few blocks off campus, Amami might be the most famous coffee shop in Lewisburg for Bucknellians. It is easy to walk to, even between classes, so be prepared to see everyone you both want and don’t want to see there.
Funds: The small dirty chai latte was just under $6, while the large sits at a little over $6. The drinks menu ranges from $3 for a regular coffee to around $7 or $8 for a smoothie, so there are options to splurge or stay within budget!
