Bison Women’s Lacrosse had a tough game ahead of them going up against Navy (ranked #24) this past Saturday afternoon. The match resulted in a 17-6 loss for the Orange and Blue, bringing them to a 4-5 record overall and 0-2 in the Patriot League.
Despite the results of the game, many players shined through. Allie Boyce ʼ25 managed a hat trick, and Juliana Pagano ʼ26 scored her first-ever collegiate goal.
Navy’s offense proved their strength, remaining ahead for the majority of the contest and ending with a total of 37 shots on goal compared to the Bison’s 21. Navy started the game with a behind-the-back goal to put them on the board. Boyce responded with a free-position goal to tie the match.
The first half ended with a score of 9-4 to Navy with the rest of the game following suit as the Midshipmen furthered their lead. The rain also played a major factor, causing an increase in turnovers and other mistakes from both sides compared to earlier in the contest.
The Orange and Blue managed only nine of 25 on the draw which fed into a lack of offensive opportunities with the struggle to gain possession. Keeping possession was also a challenge with the Bison having 14 turnovers and eight caused, compared to Navy’s 15 turnovers with 12 caused. The pressure was on from the Midshipmen defensive line, making it difficult to bring the ball down the field.
The Orange and Blue relied on free-position shots, making three of five throughout the game making up half of their total points. Boyce’s hat trick puts her 11 goals away from matching the school record, currently sitting at 133 total career goals. Along with Boyce and Pagano, Megan Krestinski ʼ26 and Kat Reynolds ʼ28 added to the scoreboard with their own goals.
Colleen Kazanjian ʼ25 remained in the crease for the entirety of regulation with a save percentage of .370. She ended the match with 10 total saves.
The Bison will face another Patriot League opponent in Holy Cross on Saturday, March 29 at 1 p.m.
