What is a Blitzer? What is Lotus?

Popularly known as Blitzers at Wagging Tail Coffee Company, these non-coffee drinks are a great option for those who are looking for a cold drink that gives a boost of energy! This plant-based energy drink is primarily made with club soda, but can be made with alternatives like lemonade and green tea. Wagging Tail also offers this drink option to be ordered without the energy shot for those just looking for a nice sparkling treat. The flavors of Blitzers range from numerous fruity options, such as blue raspberry and prickly pear, to other options like caramel and lavender. 

Lotus is a brand of natural caffeine syrup that many Pennsylvania coffee shops use to make high-caf, non-coffee drinks. A plant-based, flavored energy drink concentrate, Lotus is mixed with club soda and flavored syrups to make fun, fruity drinks. At other local coffee shops like IV Coffee in Sunbury and Eagles Wind in Shamokin Dam, they offer “Lotus Drinks,” their version of a Wagging Tail Blitzer.

Why choose a Blitzer?

Blitzers or Lotus Drinks are a fun drink alternative for people who don’t like coffee or are in the mood for a sweet, carbonated drink. There is a lot of caffeine and sugar in Blitzers and Lotus Drinks, so be aware of the fact that “energy-drink concentrate” is utilized to inform what size you order.

What did we order?

Our choices of the day were Sour Patch and Sunset. The first was a mix of blood orange, pomegranate and pineapple, while the second drink was a combination of peach, passionfruit and blackberry. Be sure to stir the drink before you try… (Grace may or may not have made this mistake)! They were tasty but also super sweet! Grace said she thinks they are more of a sweet treat than a daily caffeine source. Grace agreed, saying, “It’s fun every now and then!” So take that as you will!

Our rating: For the Blitzers at Wagging Tail, we give it a rating of 4.3 out of 5! The drinks were sweet, gave a boost of energy and were fun colors! However, the drinks really are just a mixture of flavored syrups, which might deter some from trying it out. We still recommend it!

Flavor: You might be thinking, “Woah, that’s a lot of different flavors,” but it is so delicious! The fruity cocktail of different flavors are what makes a Blitzer a Blitzer! On a hot summer day, these drinks are sure to cool you off. If you are looking for another way to get your caffeine fix, these are a tried and true alternative to switch up your day. 

Fame: Ok, this may be our third time reviewing Wagging Tail, but this is different! We swear! The blitzers are not super well known, even if this coffee shop is!

Fun: These drinks were a very fun way to switch up our caffeine consumption! The options are endless in terms of flavor combos, and Wagging Tail always hits high on our fun meter!

Funds: A medium Blitzer costs $5, and a large costs $6.50, which may seem like a lot, but the drinks were way larger than we were expecting. We would venture to say that you get your money’s worth!
