The Lewisburg Farmers Market
What is the Lewisburg Farmers Market?
The Lewisburg Farmers Market happens every Wednesday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Fairground Road, off the Rail Trail. The Farmers Market has dozens of vendors selling produce, meats, hot foods, books, crafts, drinks and many other locally made goods. The Farmers Market has been operating since 1937, and while the vendors change, it is a staple where people can support local businesses and get high–quality products. Grace and Grace have loved going to the Farmers Market since our first year at Bucknell. Pretzels, pickles, muffins and moonshine are just a few of our favorite purchases from our trip last week! There is always an amazing variety of vendors to choose from!
Where can you get coffee there?
There are three main coffee spots to choose from at the Farmers Market! One of these is East Africa Coffee Co., where we visited. Other options include Buffalo Valley Baristas and Fox Den Brew Coffee, which we have yet to try, but will have to add to our list. If you’ve already had your caffeine fill for the day, stop by Bason Coffee Roasting for some coffee beans!
What We Got
Our choices for the day consisted of an iced toasted marshmallow latte and an iced coconut mocha cold brew. While you might think that the flavors sound ultra sweet, they actually were the opposite! Grace thoroughly enjoyed her iced toasted marshmallow latte, saying “this is exactly what I hoped it would taste like!” and while Grace enjoyed her iced coconut mocha cold brew, she said “I would go back but just get the mocha without the coconut, next time.” Our friend Luna tagged along for this week and they ordered an iced chai with caramel. This drink was definitely on the sugary side, as the caramel was added to the pre-sweetened chai latte.
Our rating: 3.7/5 We enjoyed our coffees and would grab more again if we were at the Farmers Market.
Flavor: The flavors of the coffee all around varied greatly. Grace really enjoyed her drink, which was a nice balance of flavors for both sweetness and the bitterness of coffee. On the other hand, Grace and Luna didn’t quite love their drinks, with different adjustments to possibly improve their sentiment (Grace doesn’t love coconut lol). Side note, we wholeheartedly recommend the pretzels, a classic Farmers Market treat!
Fun: The Farmers Market is always a fun time! While they are only open on Wednesdays during the year, you can visit on Saturdays as well during the summer. There are multiple ways to get there too, whether you have a car and want to make the quick drive over, or bike on the rail trail starting at Giant! (you could walk too, but that makes it around 30 mins)
Fame: While the Farmers Market is a hot spot and this coffee vendor always has a line, we would guess that most Bucknellians would not recognize East Africa Coffee Co. by name. This was a fun, more unknown place for us, but we saw about five people we know walk by in our few minutes in line.
Funds: Our drinks were all around $5 each. For specialty drinks, this price point is expected and cheaper than some of the other coffee shops we have been to.
