On Jan. 16, the Hilltop Film Series began the new year with the Russian film “The Return” (2003).

Directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev, “The Return” is about two young brothers who are reunited with their missing father after a 12-year separation. Featuring elements of drama, suspense, and mystery, the film easily entertained the audience, which consisted mostly of Lewisburg town residents, several students, and faculty members.

“Wonderful photography! It’s amazing how easy it is for you to get into the film since you had to follow the subtitles. But the dramatic story lines and the powerful performance by the two young actors made it easy and a pleasure to watch,” town resident Moshe Ulmer said.

The Hilltop Film Series shows movies almost every Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Gallery Theater, located in the ELC. These typically-foreign films are shown in an effort to bring some outside culture to those who live on and around University campus.

The various films in the series come out of different countries and are of different genres, but allow the viewer a chance to witness a film not produced in Hollywood.
