Athlete of the Week

Kim Nagotko’s ’15 stellar performances on Jan. 24 at the Gulden Invitational for the women’s track and field squad were once again honored by the Patriot League with the Athletic Track Athlete of the Week title. This award marks the second time the senior has been selected by the conference for individual recognition this season.

In contributing to an overall team victory, Nagotko recorded very impressive individual performances. Her times of 25.20 and 57.11 for the 200 and 400 meter events not only earned her first place in both races, but also met the qualifying times for ECAC competition later in the year. Nagotko was awarded the running MVP title for the event.

Her performance at the Gulden Invitational is indicative of Nagotko’s wealth of success for the Orange and Blue. The Bison athlete holds many school records in sprinting and relay events in both indoor and outdoor track, and has continued to build on her success throughout her senior season in the indoor arena.

Nagotko continued to excel for the Bison on Jan. 31 at the Penn State Invitational, recording the fastest time of a Bison runner this season in the 200 meter dash (25.09) and taking eighth place in the event.

She competed strongly on the day as a member of the 4×400 meter relay team with teammates Allison Sharkey ’17, Jen Silvestri ’16, and Chrissy Haney ’16. The foursome took second in the race with a time of 3:48.12, qualifying them for the ECAC Championships.

Nagotko sits in a great position as the postseason approaches, and her experience with high pressure meets in the past will make her a deadly weapon as the team competes in high-stakes events in Patriot League competition.
