Between the period from March 1-21, artwork hanging in Academic West and created by Shani Peters, Nesbitt Artist in Residence, a New-York based artist, was vandalized. Within the piece—which depicts various persons, including Martin Luther King, Jr.—a blue “x” was scribbled over the face of an African American individual flashing a gang sign. The artwork was displayed on the first floor of the building, in the main hallway across from Lounge Room 111. Public Safety is still investigating this act of criminal mischief.
