Pop and hip-hop musical icon Shaggy will perform for the University’s 19th annual Chrysalis Ball on April 27. Held in Gerhard Fieldhouse, the Chrysalis Ball is an opportunity for the entire University community to gather for an evening of celebration.

Jamaican singer Shaggy is best known for his hit singles “It Wasn’t Me,” “Oh Caroline,” and “Bombastic.” “It Wasn’t Me” was hit number one of the American Billboard Charts for two weeks in 2000.

Vice President of Bucknell Student Government (BSG), Soni Madnani ’20, said of the musician, “’Angel’ and ‘It Wasn’t Me’ are two of my all-time favorites, so I’m hoping Shaggy will perform them!”

Past performers have included Sugarhill Gang, MC Hammer, and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. The event also serves guests complimentary food and refreshments, which in the past has included a chocolate fountain.

Chandler Houldin ’20, the Executive President of BSG, said the Chrysalis Ball “truly shows the community aspect of Bucknell.” Additionally, Houldin sees Chrysalis as “an opportunity to come together to enjoy an event that appeals to all sorts of interests. Come for the food, come to dance, come to sit around a table of your best friends.”

Ticket for the 2018 Chrysalis Ball will go on sale March 26 at the CAP Center.

Ticket prices begin at $15 for University students the $25 for the University community.
