As tradition has served for the past 13 years, the Orange and Blue started their swimming season with a meet against UMBC on Oct. 5.

One of the many standouts of the meet was Catherine Craig ’23 who won the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:07.10. Craig went on to also collect the 400 meter individual medley (IM) title with a time of 4:35.04.

On the women’s side, another standout included Emma Hadley ’20, who won the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:09.25, Caroline Mayk ’22, who collected the title in the 50-meter backstroke, and Abby Merriman ’20, who obtained the 500-meter freestyle title.

On the men’s side, in diving, Will Cadwallader ’22 took first place in the 1-meter diving board, contributing to the Bison’s first-place finishes in the 500 freestyle, 50 freestyle, and in the 100 breaststroke.

The Orange and Blue also competed in numerous events that allowed them to sweep the podium completely, portraying the team’s dominance so early in the season. These events included the women’s 100-meter individual medley and the 500-meter freestyle.

The Bison will next travel to Massachusetts for a matchup against Holy Cross and Boston for their first Patriot League matchups of the year on Oct. 18 and Oct. 19, respectively.
