Men’s tennis falls to NJIT

With a couple of injured players this week, the Bison men’s tennis program had a disadvantage going into their match against NJIT this past Sunday, March 14 in Williamsport, Pa. They ended up losing 2-5. 

Despite the loss, Nick Mueller ’23 showed up big for the Blue and Orange, winning both number 3 singles 6-3, 7-5 and two doubles alongside partner Guillermo Torres ’23, 7-5. Michael Owen ’23, who earned the title of Patriot League Player of the Week after his performance last weekend, also beat his Highlander opponent at number 1 singles 6-2, 2-6, 3-1 by retirement.

“We see a lot of potential in some of the younger and newer guys and are very optimistic going forward in the season,” Cooper Bradshaw ’22   

Next Saturday, Bison men’s tennis will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on Saint Joseph’s University at 6 p.m. In their previous matchup that took place in February 2020, prior to the COVID-19 shutdown, the Bison defeated the Hawks 5-2.
