Women’s Rowing prepared for Patriot League season

The Bison women’s rowing team hosted West Virginia for a scrimmage on the Susquehanna River on Saturday, March 27. It was a productive pre-season competition for the Orange and Blue, as the Bison were able to face their first outside competitor this spring.

The scrimmage was 4×4’ in the format of two sets of 2×4’. The Bison battled in the first four-minute piece of each set, simulating the first 1,000 meters of a 2K race. Following, the second four-minute piece of each set simulated the final 1,000 meters of a 2K race. The race proved to be a great experience for the Bison preparing for the Patriot League Championships in mid-May. This past Saturday gave the Orange and Blue preparation for their upcoming competition and a taste of the 2K racing coming up in their season.

“It was really fun to be able to get out there and finally show off the work we’ve been putting in by racing again. West Virginia is a great team that gave us some good competition. Definitely a great start to the season,” Emily Downing ’21 said.

Next up, the Bison will face Patriot League rivals at home in each of the next two weeks. The team will battle Lehigh on Saturday, April 3 and Colgate on April 10.
