Women’s tennis’ has a win and loss this weekend

In only their third and fourth matches of the season, the Bison women’s tennis team split their weekend of competition.

The Bison fell to Army in a conference competition 3-4 on Friday, April 9. At court two Cayla Koch ’21 defeated her opponent 1-6, 6-4, and 6-4. Tyne Miller ’24 won on court three, 0-6, 6-3, and 7-5. Laurel Utterback ’24 took the victory on court five, winning 7-5 and 6-2. Third court doubles duo Utterback and Kate Novak ’24 also earned a win with the score 7-6 (7-1). 

On Saturday, the team redeemed themselves by defeating conference opponent Loyola 6-1. On court one, Daniela Bellini ’22 won 3-6, 6-4 and 6-4. Koch won again on court two 6-3 and 6-3. Miller won on court three 6-2 and 6-3. Sofia Ayuso ’21 won on court four 7-5, 7-6 (7-5). Utterback won on court five 7-5, 7-6 (7-5). All three doubles matches resulted in wins for the Bison. Duo Koch and Bellini won 6-4, partners Ayuso and Miller won 6-4, and first-years Utterback and Novak took the third doubles victory against the greyhounds 6-4. 

The Bison will compete again this Saturday, April 17 at Temple University at 12 p.m. and on Sunday, April 18 against Conference opponent Navy in Lewisburg at 1 p.m.
