After a tough loss, men’s tennis picks up a win

The Bison men’s tennis team suffered a tough loss to conference opponent Navy at home on Saturday, April 10. The final score was 0-7 with Marwan Abaza ’21 on court one, Michael Owen ’23 on court two, and Guillermo Torres ’23 at court six falling in three sets instead of two.

The Bison redeemed themselves on Sunday,  April 11, though, by defeating conference opponent Loyola 6-1. The home match resulted in wins for Abaza at court 1, 6-1, 6-1, Owen at court 2, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1, Nick Mueller ’23 at court 3, 6-3, 6-0, Sam Yildirimlar ’21 at court 5, 6-2, 3-6, 11-9 and Per Astrom ’23, at court 6 6-2, 6-4. 

In the doubles competitions, Abaza and Cooper Bradshaw ’22 were victorious 6-1, Tim Zelikovsky ’24 and Mueller beat the Greyhounds 7-6 (7-4), and Torres and Owen won 6-2. 

The team will compete again this Friday, April 16 at Lafayette at 4 p.m. and Saturday, April 17 against Lehigh in Lewisburg at 2 p.m. These are the final two matches scheduled for the Bison prior to the Patriot League tournament.
