Men’s tennis’ heartbreaker against Lehigh

Clara McCormick, Staff Writer

The Bison men’s tennis team fell to Lehigh on Saturday, April 17 in their sixth home match. The team took the doubles point by winning both first and second doubles. Duo Marwan Abaza ’21 (who won Patriot League Tennis Player of the Week the week prior) and Michael Owen ’23 as well as duo Nick Mueller ’23 and Tim Zelikovsky ’24 defeated their Mountain Hawk opponents 6-2. On court four in singles, Zelikovsky got his second win of the day, defeating his opponent 6-2, 6-3. On court six Sam Yildirimlar ‘21 fought hard to win his singles match 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, 6-4. The match against Lehigh was the senior day for Abaza and Yildirimlar, so it was fitting that they each got a win under their belt.

Next, the team will face Colgate in the Patriot League Championships that will take place at Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa. The Bison had a big win against Colgate earlier this season winning 4-1. If the Bison defeat them again, they will move on to the finals.
