Athlete of the Week: Jenna Hall ’24

The Bison Women’s Soccer Team has had some very close games recently despite having a difficult schedule. Jenna Hall ’24 has been a big contributor to their successes. Hall, who was selected as Patriot Goalkeeper of the Week last week, has managed to keep most of the balls out of the net. In the week where she received the award, she had both a shutout against Youngstown State and a whopping nine saves that resulted in a tie against Towson. The following week, the keeper was strong as well, holding No. 12 West Virginia to only three goals.

Hall spoke on the competitive contest. “I think the team came out very strong against West Virginia and proved to ourselves that we can compete at the highest level. Even though we lost, we had a lot of positive moments to be proud of.”

Following the strong West Virginia game, however, the Bison suffered a close loss to Monmouth. Hall made six saves in the contest where the Hawks had a 16-9 shot advantage.

“Following a tiring overnight trip to Monmouth, the team had tired legs and came out very sluggish from the start. Going down 2-0 was not the best start, but it was amazing to see everyone step it up in the second half and score two goals.”

Last season, which took place in the spring of 2021, Hall proved herself a quality netminder as she played in all five games of the season. Three of the matches were shared shutouts with Kaylee Donnelly ’24. The then-rookie was selected as both Patriot League Goalkeeper and Rookie of the week on March 9 after not allowing Lafayette to score a single goal despite having to make 10 saves. She finished the season with a .958 save percentage and contributed to the Bison having a 0.34 goals against average, which was the best in the league.

The sophomore is looking forward to the season progressing, and has high hopes for her now developing team.

“I am very excited about our upcoming games and Patriot League play. I feel that we have a lot to prove to our opponents and are here to compete for a championship.”

This upcoming week, Hall will lead her team in matches against Mount Saint Mary’s and Columbia.
