Bison rally at MacDonald Cup

The Bison men’s golf team traveled to New Haven, Conn. this past weekend to compete at the MacDonald Cup hosted by Yale University. There they competed alongside 13 other teams in Cornell, Colgate, Harvard, Fairfield, St. John’s, Penn, Dartmouth, Michigan, Hartford, Fordham, St. Bonaventure, Yale and Princeton. The team lagged in 13th after the first day of the tournament but rallied to finish in 11th place.

Jackson Bussell ’23 posted a pair of 71s the first day of the tournament, leaving him in 12th place to start Sunday. He came back the second day to shoot 73 and post an overall score of 5-over 215. This was good enough to finish in a three-way tie for 11th place. Bussell had the team’s best score of the weekend. He said the highlight of his weekend was “hitting 32 out of 36 greens the first day.”

Right behind Bussell was Jason Lohwater ’22, with a weekend score of 8-over 218. Lohwater jumped five places from the first day, finishing in a three-way tie for 18th place, securing his top-20 finish in a field of 80. Blake Wisdom ’23 finished with a solid last round of 74, leading him to a final score of 20-over 230 on the weekend. First-years Jake Maddaloni and John Bradbeer posted weekend totals of 234 and 237, respectively.

The Bison now have a weekend off to prepare for the Bucknell Invitational on Oct. 10-12.
