Men’s Water Polo Splits Weekend at Home

The Bison men’s water polo team took on two games at home this past Sunday, Sept. 26. They lost the first game to George Washington by a score of 8-5. The team was able to bounce back in their second game, defeating Wagner by a score of 9-5.

The Orange and the Blue were able to keep it close with the Colonials in the beginning of the game. They took the lead in the second quarter with a goal from Doruk Ozar ’24 to put the score at 2-1. Despite their efforts George Washington was able to tie the game soon after. The Colonials scored twice again to give them a two goal advantage with a score of 4-2. 

The Bison managed to come back and tie, with goals from Josh Yardley ’22 and Shay Gillearn ’25. However, the team was again unable to keep their lead as George Washington was able to get four more goals in the third quarter. The game finished at a score of 8-5, with four saves from Adrien Touzot ’23 in goal. 

The Orange and the Blue were able to come back on their second game of the day against Wagner. The game was also close from the beginning of the match, with the score at 3-2 after just the first quarter. With goals from Yardley and Walker Butler ’24, the Bison were able to secure a 7-4 lead at half. 

The defense displayed a strong effort in the second half, only letting in one more goal for the Seahawks. A goal each from Hasan Mogultay ’25 and Andu Vlasceanu ’23 secured the Bison’s win with a score of 9-5, putting a win on the board for the Bison this weekend. Touzot put up a record 11 saves for the season. 

The Bison will have next weekend off, but will travel to play George Washington, Navy and Johns Hopkins on the weekend of Oct. 16.
