This past weekend the Bison women’s golf team placed fifth at the Bucknell Invitational. The Bison ended the weekend with a total score of 936, enough to maintain their fifth-place standing from the first 36 holes on Saturday.

First-year Tara Thomas carried the team, contributing the Bison’s best countable score for the third straight round. Thomas finished with a total of 224 strokes, earning her 7th place out of 68 participants. Thomas’ highlight of the weekend was a strong 25-foot putt for birdie to keep her on track, and the Orange and Blue in the running.

There were several other strong performances for the Bison over the weekend, including Morgan Sohosky ’23 with a 78, Sun Woo Jeon ’22 and Kelsey Yi ’24 with 79’s and Tatum McKelvey ’23 with an 81.

Cristina Canales ’24, Sahana Paravantavida ’23, Kayla Yi ’24 and Morgan Hennessy ’22 all competed in singles for the Orange and the Blue. Canales led the group, posting a final score of 78 on the day.

I would say [that] I am really happy with how I played last weekend on our home course, my overall game is becoming consistent so I am looking forward to shooting better scores. I’m mostly excited that I was able to help the team place in the top five and see our scores improve each round!” Thomas said.

Canales (13th), Jeon (T-16th) and Thomas (T-7th) all earned top-20 finishes.

Check out the Orange and Blue next weekend as they compete at the Navy Fall Invitational in Annapolis, Md.
