Big Weekend for Bison Cross Country

On Friday Oct. 15, a portion of the Bison cross country squad competed in the Garnet race at Florida State University. Michael Donelly ’24 posted the Orange and Blue’s best individual performance on the day, placing 194th in a group of over 300 runners. Behind Donnelly, several other Bison contributed strong performances including Brendan O’Toole ’22 (203rd, 24:58.4), Samuel Whitaker ’23 (238th, 25:20.4), Harry Marson ’25 (250th, 25:31.2) and Ryan Miele ’22 (263rd, 25:39.7).

The Bison men also qualified for the seeded race at the meet. The Orange and Blue placed 39th against extremely stiff competition, including Northern Arizona (64), Colorado (128), Arkansas (128), BYU (131), and Notre Dame (203) in the top five.

Ashlyn Ramos ’22 led the Bison women’s squad at the Garnet race, finishing ninth (21:08.7) out of 194 runners at the meet. Ramos earned Patriot League weekly recognition for her performance. 

The Orange and Blue earned the 14th overall spot, behind top five teams  Tennessee (67), Texas (122), Florida State (152), Northern Arizona (169) and Utah (195). 

At the Leopard Invite on Saturday, Noah Martin ’23 captured individual honors for the Bison men. Martin completed the 8k in 25:43.65, placing first in a group of dominant Bison runners. The Orange and Blue placed first in the team portion of the meet, with a total of 21 points on the day. 

The women’s cross country squad also took home the title at the Leopard Invitational with a total of 34 points. 

Both the men and women are looking to focus their efforts on the upcoming Patriot League Championships being held at Lehigh during the end of October.
