The Orange and Blue traveled to Worcester, Massachusetts to face off against top league opponent Holy Cross. The Bison lost by a score of 4-1 as the Crusaders never trailed in the match. The team fell to 4-8-2 overall and 2-3-1 in Patriot League play.

Jameson Railey ’23 recorded his first goal of the season to bring the game back to even after Holy Cross scored first. His goal came in the 64th minute. The Crusaders answered back just 90 seconds later to keep the lead midway through the second half.

The play in the first half fell more towards the Crusaders, but the Bison held strong and kept them scoreless until the final minute of the half. Holy Cross put away a goal with just 27 seconds left until intermission.

Jameson Railey’s goal was not the only action seen in the 64th minute. Holy Cross goalkeeper Jimmy Joyce was sent off with a red card offense during this play as well.

With just 10 men on the field, the Crusaders responded quickly to Railey’s goal and scored just 64 seconds apart to return and extend the lead. The goal came in the 87th minute just three minutes before the end of regulation to make the final score 4-1.

Bennett Schwartz ’23 made three saves for the Orange and Blue, who were outshot 18-6.

“We held them for a while and felt confident that we could gain momentum going into the second half. Jameson’s goal came at a great time, but we broke down a little bit after that. We are going to keep moving forward and improving for our next games and put this one behind us,” Captain MJ Kuczara ’24 said.

The Bison have just three more regular season games, two of them at home on Emmitt Varsity Soccer Field. The Boston Terriers will visit Emmitt Field next Saturday at 12 p.m.
